Disaster Management
Large Areas
Disasters effecting large areas require a different kind of survival skills. This is because, too many people are impacted, and, it may take much longer for relief to reach an individual. Besides, a lot of resources in the immediate vicinity are tied up – thus, not only will the relief operations be delayed. But, once rescued – any medical treatment, shelter etc. would not be available immediately.
Kinds of disasters which could impact large areas include earthquake etc. The impact is felt across entire city, and, sometimes several cities in the vicinity.
Here, two things are important:
- immediate action during the incident
- ability to survive for several days – on your own – without any support system, utilities etc.
